Teacher Spotlight: Aria Taboada

1. How long have you been teaching at Metro Music Makers, and what do you teach?
“I’ve been teaching here for two years, and I teach violin, viola, guitar, voice, ukulele and piano.”

2. What is your first musical memory?
“My first classical concert. . . It was Joshua Bell, a violinist. He inspired me to take violin playing to a new level.”

3. What was the first album you bought?
“My dad bought me my first CD: Yo Yo Ma in New York. I still have it!”

4. Who are you listening to right now?
“I have a lot of different musical tastes, but currently I have been listening to lots of musical theatre stuff. Dear Evan Hansen has been one of my favorites.”

5. Why do you love teaching?
“It gives me an opportunity to share my passion for music with students. It also makes me feel good to make someone’s day better by sharing music with them.”

6. Who inspires you as a musician?
“I have so many inspirations, but one that I have always had is Brendon Urie from Panic at the Disco. He is a great example of a musician who patiently worked on his style and consistently works towards something great.”

7. What musical accomplishment are you most proud of?
“Playing with the GSO as well as the ASYO, and being featured on a few artist albums.”

8. Tell me about one of your best moments as a teacher.
“I love when I can help a student make a good chair in orchestra or pass a quiz at school!”

9. What’s the latest in your own music world?
“I am currently dabbling in songwriting, something I had never really done before.”

10. What’s the latest in your world outside of music?
“I’m learning Russian! Privet!!!”
